About the role
The Food Services Manager will plan, prepare, and serve all meals for shelter residents and clients of the meal program. This role maintains a clean, organized kitchen area and supervises food services staff and volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritionally balanced menus for the meal program
- Prepare and cook meals as needed
- Ensure all kitchen staff adhere to food safety requirements regarding sanitation and food preparation (e.g., hairnets, hats, wearing gloves when handling food)
- Maintain a clean kitchen, pantry, cooler, refrigerator, and freezer
- Ensure proper labeling, rotating, and disposing of food and/or donations
- Maintain inventory of food products and supplies
- Ensure all food service equipment is properly maintained
- Submit supply orders through proper protocols for meal preparation and kitchen cleaning
- Coordinate the food pantry program, facilitating the transfer of donated food from the warehouse to keep the pantry stocked daily
- Supervise volunteers, SER National participants, and community service workers assigned to food services
- Prepare and set up special lunches or snacks for meetings as requested by supervisors or Corps Officers
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Three years of food service experience
- Supervisory experience is a plus
