About the role
We are currently seeking a Food Services/Youth Care Worker to join our residential team. The Food Services/Youth Care Worker will assist in preparing meals, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring cultural/religious appropriateness of menu items.
Responsibilities
- Ensure cultural/religious appropriateness of menu items.
- Prepare meals according to posted menus, using correct food, quantity, and recipes.
- Maintain all safety standards, food handling health standards, and local, county, and state health requirements.
- Ensure adequate amounts of food are properly and consistently prepared.
- Assist with proper and routine maintenance of equipment.
- Document all meal counts, including daily production menu, time allocation sheets, temperature log, and others as assigned.
- Prevent accidents by focusing on details of the job; report any unsafe acts or violations to your Kitchen Supervisor.
- Wear safety gloves when using/cleaning the meat slicer and/or while using a knife to cut any food.
- Maintain food service areas to receive the highest grade or points from any inspecting agency.
- Consult with Kitchen Supervisor about end-of-month inventory preparations.
- Account for all products and meet menu invoices.
- Drive a vehicle when necessary.
Requirements
- A High school diploma or GED required.
- Must meet State of California Health Standards for Food Handlers.
- Maintain a current county food handler’s certificate and successfully complete an HACCP course.
- Must have three years or more of extensive food service experience/training.
- Meet State of California health standards for food handlers, maintain a current county food handlers’ certificate.
- Requires working knowledge of kitchen appliances.
- Must have an interest in working directly with youth in accordance with the general requirements as established in the California Administrative Code, Title 22.
- Must communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in English.
- Must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a physical examination; drug clearance; criminal background check and Child Abuse Index check.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license with clean DMV history and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and be insurable by Trinity’s insurance carrier.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish).
Skills
- Working knowledge of kitchen appliances.
- An interest in working directly with youth.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
Pay
$18.00 per hour.
Schedule
Sunday from 6:30am-7:00pm and Monday 5:30am-2:00pm
Tuesday 9:30am-7:00pm
Wednesday from 5:30am-2:00pm.
