Food Service Worker / Part-time, Evening Shift

About the role

The Food Service Worker for the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) at the Bemidji Veterans Home (MVH-Bemidji) will perform routine food service tasks including food preparation, short order cooking, serving meals to residents, dishwashing, and cleaning the food service areas.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals to residents in accordance with established food service policies and procedures.
• Perform simple cooking on a large scale and plan and prepare small meals on a household scale.
• Handle and store food safely and efficiently.
• Clean and maintain food service areas, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards.
• Follow dietary restrictions and preferences as indicated on diet cards.

Requirements

• Knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing food.
• Ability to care for and use cooking utensils and equipment.
• Ability to read and understand diet cards and follow instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Food service-related experience, especially with prepping, plating, and serving food.
• Knowledge of basic sanitation standards.
• Knowledge of ServSafe Food Certificate.
• Knowledge of International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative (IDDSI).

Additional Requirements

• A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s).
• A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.

Pay

$20.87 - $25.88 / hourly PLUS $2.25/hour shift differential for all hours worked after 6:00pm and before 6:00am.

Schedule

Evening Shift / 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
