Food Service Worker / Part-Time, Day Shift
Location: Preston, MN
Part-time, unlimited position with a work schedule of at least 32 hours per 2-week pay period. Day shift (6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), including weekends as assigned. This position is not initially eligible for employer contribution towards health and dental benefits.
About the role
The Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH)-Preston is seeking to fill two identical, part-time Food Service Workers. As a Food Service Worker, you will perform routine food service tasks including food preparation, short order cooking, serving meals to residents, dishwashing, and cleaning the food service areas while following established food service policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food using materials and methods for large-scale cooking
- Plan and prepare small meals on a household scale
- Perform simple cooking on a large scale
- Perform cleaning and food service tasks
- Read diet cards and follow instructions
- Serve meals to residents
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Ensure your resume/application clearly describes your experience in the following areas, including the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
- Knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing food
- Knowledge of care and use of cooking utensils and equipment
- Knowledge of food values and nutrition
- Ability to perform simple cooking on a large scale
- Ability to plan and prepare small meals on a household scale
- Ability to perform cleaning and food service tasks
- Ability to read diet cards and follow instructions
Preferred Qualifications
- Food service-related experience specifically with prepping, plating, and serving food
- Knowledge of basic sanitation standards
- ServSafe Food Certificate
- Knowledge of International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative (IDDSI)
Additional Requirements
- A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
- A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
- Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists, including a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).
Pay
Salary range: $20.87 - $25.88 per hour
