About the role
The Food Service Worker / Market Merchandiser is responsible for food preparation, cooking, cleaning, stocking, organizing, and providing excellent customer service. This role also includes filling three markets, assisting with grab-and-go creations, running lunch delivery orders, and stocking markets.
Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Assist with food preparation such as creating fruit cups, maintaining the salad bar, and stocking food supplies.
- Sales Service: Engage with and provide superior service to all customers. Answer questions, provide information on procedures or policies, and communicate regarding orders, comments, and complaints.
- Cash Handling: Establish or identify prices of goods and capture sales in the point-of-sale system. Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits. Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change. Ensure accuracy of payments and change disbursements. Balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift.
- Teamwork: Contribute to a positive team environment. Recognize and reinforce individual and team accomplishments. Identify changes in morale and performance. Maintain calm demeanor during high-volume or unusual events.
- Merchandise: Organize and stock supplies, service stations, and products. Rotate products and stock grab-and-go items throughout the shift to increase sales. Follow placement protocols to optimize customer sales.
- Safety & Sanitation: Follow operational policies and procedures, health, safety, and sanitation guidelines. Clean, sanitize, and organize work areas, utensils, and equipment. Clean service and seating areas, scrub and polish counters, tables, and other equipment. Perform duties such as sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes to maintain sanitary facilities.
Requirements
- 1 year of food service experience required.
- Strong food prep skills preferred.
- Food/Beverage Production: Knowledge of techniques and equipment for preparing, serving, storing, and handling food and beverage products.
- Mathematics: Ability to add and subtract, charge appropriately, and distribute change to customers.
- Suggestive Selling or Influencing Others: Suggesting others to buy merchandise/goods or to otherwise change their minds or actions.
- Customer Service: Working with the public. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services.

Pay
$18.00 - $18.50 per hour
