FOOD SERVICE WORKER/CASHIER (PART TIME)

About the role

Chartwells K12 is hiring immediately for a part‑time Food Service Worker/Cashier at Union County Schools, 107 Layman Street, Liberty, IN 47353. The role involves cashiering duties and general food service work to support student dining programs.

Schedule

Part‑time schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Pay

Fixed pay rate: $13.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Prior customer service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
• Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator per safety standards.
• Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment.
• Store foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
• Clean work areas, equipment and utensils.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Use approved food recipes and production standards for quality, serving temperatures and portion control.
• Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined service steps.
• Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a service‑oriented manner.
• Relay relevant information to supervisor.
• Perform sales transactions; enter sales into cash register to ensure accurate recording.
• Make change, accept declining balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment.
• Issue receipts to customers.
• Follow standard procedures for issuing cash refunds.
• Responsible for assigned change funds and cash receipts, ensuring cash drawer complies with overage/shortage standards.
• Replenish condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining service area cleanliness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
