About the Role
The Food Service Worker performs a variety of food service tasks in meal assembly, meal delivery, dishwashing, and metal ware.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Able to read, write, and perform basic math in English
- Three to six months of on-the-job training or previous experience preferred
Skills
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods (up to 100% of the workday)
- Ability to lift and push up to 50 lbs
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for extended periods
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and other personnel
- Frequent walking and standing; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching above the head or low to the ground
- Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, blood, bodily fluids, and tissues
Responsibilities
- Set up and clean tray lines assembly area, including hot and cold food items, silverware, dishes, napkins, salads, desserts, breads, and beverages
- Prepare workstations by stocking food and non-food items and equipment
- Work on assembly tray line stations and read tray tickets to provide correct food items
- Load trays onto delivery carts and remove soiled serving trays from patient units
- Operate elevators to deliver and pick up carts to/from patient care units and outpatient clinics
- Deliver meals to patients’ bedside and assist with needs, concerns, or requests
- Communicate via portable telephones to ensure all patient needs are met
- Operate mechanical dishwashers, clean equipment, and unload food from delivery carts
- Clean and sanitize metal ware, cooking pots, pans, utensils, and serving ware
- Prepare simple foods like sandwiches and salads as needed
- Maintain records such as tray delivery/pick-up schedules
