Food Service Worker 1 -Dish Room

Weber Human Services (WHS) is a cooperative agency between Weber and Morgan County governments, serving as the local authority for substance abuse, mental health, and senior (Aging) services. Our Aging Services Department provides opportunities and support for senior citizens in Weber and Morgan Counties to enhance their quality of life and extend independence, with a focus on those with the greatest social and economic needs.

About the role

This position works primarily in the dish room of the Nutrition Kitchen, supporting a team dedicated to giving back to the community. The role involves operating commercial kitchen equipment, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with general kitchen tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate the dishwashing machine, hand wash, scrub, and sanitize pots, pans, and serving trays
• Scrub carts, racks, and various other types of commercial kitchen equipment
• Sweep and mop floors, take out trash to the dumpster, and perform additional cleaning tasks as needed
• Assist cooks as assigned
• Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines
• Complete work in a timely and efficient manner while working independently

Requirements

• Valid Food Handler’s Permit from the local health department (assistance available if needed)
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Good personal hygiene and adherence to professional standards
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work in an institutional kitchen environment with exposure to:
• Hot cooking surfaces and extreme temperature changes
• Sharp objects and electrical equipment
• Potentially hazardous cleaning supplies
• Possible contact with infectious diseases
• Constantly on feet throughout the workday
• Ability to push medium to large carts with pans of food products
• Moderate to heavy lifting and handling of hot food products

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM
