Food Service Utilities Worker (Temp to Perm)

About the role

The Utility Worker is an integral member of the Food Services team under the direction and supervision of the Director of Food Services. Key responsibilities include:

• Performing daily cleaning of dishes using the 3-bay sink and conveyor dishwashing machine.
• Aiding in basic kitchen prep tasks like peeling and cutting fruits and vegetables.
• Serving as a friendly, courteous customer service representative.
• Assisting with catering events, assembling sandwiches and cookie/pastry platters.
• Delivering and setting up food and beverages as needed.
• Stocking items in the serving area and monitoring the serving area.
• Cleaning work and serving areas as needed.
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the salad bar, steam table, coffee dispensers, and serving areas at the end of the day.
• Receiving, lifting, and storing deliveries in various storage rooms.
• Following closing procedures and adhering to allergy awareness policies.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of food service operations, including structure, flow, and fast-paced environments.
• Ability to interact with a diverse group of people, including students, parents, faculty, staff, and vendors.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Knowledge of food allergies and practices to prevent cross-contact.
• Proficiency in English to carry out work as assigned.
