About the Role

The Dietary Aide assists in meal and snack preparation, cleanup of dining areas, and interacts daily with residents. Responsibilities include receiving, rotating, and storing supplies and food, serving residents, cleaning work areas, washing dishes, and complying with infection control and sanitation standards. The Cook Supervisor oversees dietary department personnel, ensures adherence to policies, prepares and serves meals according to residents' dietary needs, and assists with production planning, food storage, and special events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of meals and snacks.
  • Clean and maintain dining areas, workspaces, and equipment.
  • Receive, rotate, and store food and supplies.
  • Serve residents and ensure compliance with sanitary regulations.
  • Wash dishes, pans, and utensils.
  • Supervise dietary aides and assign work tasks (Cook Supervisor).
  • Prepare and serve meals according to residents’ diet orders (Cook Supervisor).
  • Assist with production planning, forecasting, and recipe development (Cook Supervisor).
  • Manage purchase and storage of food and equipment (Cook Supervisor).
  • Ensure meals are aesthetically pleasing, high-quality, and within budget (Cook Supervisor).
  • Operate kitchen equipment (e.g., steamer, blender, slicers, grill, ovens) (Cook Supervisor).
  • Respond to residents’ requests promptly (Cook Supervisor).
  • Assist in planning and preparing for facility special events (Cook Supervisor).

Qualifications

  • Ability to unload and stock groceries, including lifting items up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and recording data.
  • Attention to detail, follow-through, and task prioritization.
  • Supervisory and instructional skills (Cook Supervisor).
  • Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and cooperation.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
  • Professional communication with residents, staff, and family members.
