About the Role
Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for a Limited Term, Full-Time Food Service Supervisor I in the Nutrition Services Department. This role operates under the direction of the Food Service Supervisor II and involves supervising Food Service Technician I/IIs, engaging in meal service, cleaning and maintaining work areas and equipment, and may include instructing or supervising Industrial Therapy (IT) workers from the patient population.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, direct, and instruct Food Service Technician I/IIs in performing their duties.
- Engage in serving meals, cleaning, and maintaining work areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Instruct, lead, or supervise Industrial Therapy (IT) workers and patients as needed.
- Plan, organize, and direct the work of others.
- Plan and conduct in-service training programs.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Read and follow serving instructions for therapeutic diets.
- Stand and walk for prolonged periods; bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift loads up to 50 pounds.
- Routinely push, pull, and manipulate food transit carts and hot carts.

- Ability to keep records and prepare reports.
- Ability to read and follow serving instructions for therapeutic diets.
- Ability to reason logically and creatively, develop and evaluate alternatives, and present ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to consult with and advise managers on various subject-matter areas.
- Knowledge of dining area operations, food service equipment, and utensils.
- Knowledge of cleaning and preserving materials for maintenance of dining areas.
- Knowledge of dining room sanitation and safety measures.
- Knowledge of effective personnel practices and general pantry operations.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, Exchange (Outlook), Internet, Intranet, and Teams.
- Sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform duties.
Pay
$3,670.00 - $4,592.00 monthly. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
