About the role

The Food Service Supervisor oversees food service functions at the Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility, supervising all food preparation and service personnel (e.g., food service coordinators, food service workers, cooks, and/or bakers) assigned to one shift of institutional food service operation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise food service staff on assigned shift.
  • Prepare records and reports, including cycle menus, cost reports, monthly reports, work schedules, production schedules, and food/supply orders.
  • Maintain safety and sanitary conditions by monitoring cold storage and ingredient products, inspecting for hazards, checking refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and securing food storage areas.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of food service preparation, food service management, supervisory principles/techniques, food service sanitation and safety, employee training and development, and food purchasing and specifications.
  • Skill in the use of food service equipment.
  • Ability to apply principles to solve practical, everyday problems; write accurate reports; and gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a 1-year training program in food service management; 12 months of experience in food service preparation; and 6 months of training or experience in employee training and development.
  • OR completion of a 2-year training program in food service preparation or hospitality management technology, or 2 years of experience in food service preparation; and 6 months of training or experience in employee training and development.
  • OR equivalent of the minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

The Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio, statutorily mandated to confine felony offenders, ages 10-21, who have been adjudicated and committed by one of Ohio's 88 county juvenile courts. During their stay with DYS, youth are engaged in programming designed to address their criminological and behavioral needs. DYS reaches thousands of youth in facilities and those on parole.

Pay

$24.11 - $28.74 per hour

Schedule

Full-time, 4 days per week, 10 hours per shift
