SUMMARY
This is a progressively responsible position for the School Dining Service Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for high standard of nutrition for the school dining services program.
- Prepare main meal and vegetables as listed on the menu in amounts needed.
- Follow all established sanitation procedures.
- Aid in student/meal accountability as required in school assigned.
- Aid in supervision of children during breakfast service as required in school assigned.
- Aid Manager in ordering food and supplies.
- Prepare main entrees as required for the Breakfast Program.
- Aid in preparation, serving and clean-up of meals as assigned by immediate supervisor (Breakfast and Lunch).
- Check increased main meal/vegetable recipes as provided by the kitchen manager.
- Aid immediate supervisor in accountability of food and supplies used daily.
- Ensure food items are properly stored/thawed as needed for meal preparation.
- Ensure correct equipment use and report needed maintenance.
- Work harmoniously with staff at school assigned.
- Aid in supervision of assigned kitchen personnel (Food Service Assistants & Substitutes).
- Check availability of supplies for next day's menu, main meal/vegetable items.
- Aid in money accountability as assigned by immediate supervisor.
- Ability to lift and store food and food related products.
- Perform all other job related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School graduate or GED equivalent.
- Certificate from State Nutrition Programs, Department of Educational & Cultural Services offered cooks course.
- Specialized training in sanitation, food handling, safety.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Use a Personal Computer with database, spreadsheet and word-processing software.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
- Speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
