Food Service Specialist
Job Description
Maintains, updates recipe files, and revises recipes for quality and quantity of food.
Operates kitchen equipment such as ovens, broilers, fryers, and mixers used in the production of menu items.
Ensures that all residents are offered a balanced meal and modifies meals to meet dietary and religious needs of individuals.
Prepares ingredients and cooks meats, vegetables, casseroles, soups, and sauces according to menus.
Reviews census and menu data, adjusts recipes accordingly, and recycles leftover food to reduce waste.
Cleans floors, work surfaces, and other work areas in the production area.
Washes and cleans cooking utensils and equipment.
Sanitizes the kitchen and dining areas after each meal.
Ensures that kitchen equipment is maintained and communicates the need for maintenance and repairs.
Provides individual and group education on topics such as nutrition and whole health.
Supports individuals who wish to make changes to their nutrition and/or whole health.
Qualifications
- Experience as a food service specialist, food service worker, or cook.
- Experience using an online grocery shopping/ordering system.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle.
- ServSafe Certification preferred.
- Experience working in a food services environment regulated by the Department of Health preferred.
