Food Service Logistic Supervisor

About the role

The Food Service Logistic Supervisor assists the Food Service Department in managing and supervising the receiving, delivery, and inventory of food in support of the educational system of the district.

Responsibilities

• Follows Reading School District, City of Reading Board of Health, and USDA Nutritional Guidelines, rules and regulations pertaining to efficient and sanitary food receiving/delivery and storage.
• Maintains records of daily absentees and arranges for substitute drivers and stock clerks.
• Collaborates with drivers to coordinate delivery schedules and routes, updating as necessary.
• Assists in preparing and submitting orders for milk, bread, produce, food, and supplies.
• Assists in resolving supply and delivery issues.
• Supports the Director and Culinary Specialist in coordinating supply orders and deliveries for special events.
• Schedules bagged lunch requests and prepares weekly forecasts for breakfast and lunch supplies.
• Coordinates and oversees transportation and warehouse operations to ensure students receive proper nutritional requirements daily.
• Manages cash received from drivers and deposits it with supervisors.
• Collaborates with the Department of Education and Department of Agriculture on facility inspections and audits.
• Supervises and trains food service staff, stock clerks, and drivers.
• Oversees the daily completion of driver/stock clerk checklists.
• Maintains quality and food safety compliance across all schools.
• Troubleshoots transportation and delivery problems.
• Participates in monthly Unit Leader meetings on food service-related topics.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum two years training in commercial food service and/or logistic systems
• Minimum one year supervisory experience
• General knowledge of ServSafe Food Safety Program
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
