About the role
Cafeteria employees enable Church employees and temple patrons to focus on their most important work of bringing souls unto Jesus Christ by providing food services in a simple and affordable way. This is an experienced cook position. The incumbent prepares all recipes up to the most complex in desired quantities under the general direction of the supervisor (if a cafeteria supervisor exists in the Temple). May provide leadership for other food service personnel and act as supervisor in the supervisor's absence or in situations where there is no cafeteria supervisor. Specific work performed may vary considerably among incumbents in this position.
Responsibilities
- Expected to be able to do all the duties of a Cook and other Food Service Associates
- Assists cafeteria supervisor, or in the absence of a cafeteria supervisor, is responsible to perform all aspects of cafeteria operations
- Reads and follows all recipes including the most complex
- Help with inventory
- Organize recipe book
- Assist with menu planning
- Directs employees to needed stations
- Ensures proper care of food goods and leftovers
- Ensures efficient use of personnel
- Manages specific stations (HQ only)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Intermediate competency in reading, writing, and mathematics and 4-8 years of food preparation experience is required
- Must have the ability to follow menus and recipes of some difficulty
- Knowledge and understanding of inventory controls, purchasing and receiving, and menu planning is required
- Must have food handler permit where required
- May be required to obtain ServSafe certification
- Demonstrated supervisory skills, ability to train, and common courtesy when dealing with others
- Ability to move and use heavy kitchen equipment
- Incumbent must demonstrate ability to interact with others in a positive manner
- Must have good communication skills both verbally and in writing in English (or language of country)
- Proficient computer skills
- Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy
