Food Service Cook-Child Development Center

Duties And Responsibilities

• Providing meals and snacks for children in the child care center.
• Safe preparation of all food (breakfast, lunch, and snacks).
• Preparing food using methods that maintain food value and freshness.
• Keeping kitchen area clean and maintained according to regulations.
• Purchasing food for center, maintaining appropriate food and non-food items for use in kitchen area.
• Checking food deliveries against orders.
• Cleaning appliances and storage areas according to designated schedule.
• Assisting the director with meal planning, purchasing and maintaining inventory of staples on hand.
• Ensuring that minimum requirements are met for the Child Care Food Program.
• Maintaining food production records for each meal and snack prepared.
• Performing other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Providing meals and snacks for children in the child care center.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 18 years old.
• A high school graduate or equivalent with experience or training in food preparation for large groups.
• Work cooperatively with teaching staff and communicate with and be sensitive to children and their needs.
• Meet Iowa Department of Human Services health requirements for child care center.
• Have on file a signed statement to the effect that there are no convictions by any law of any state involving lascivious acts with a child, child neglect, or child abuse.
