Food Service Cook/Cashier

Reports to: Food Service Director

About the Role

To perform assigned Food Service duties within the Marion Independent School District.

Responsibilities

• Operate the food service point of sale system.
• Observe and ensure students are properly charged.
• Attain the ability to recognize a USDA reimbursable meal.
• Assist in preparing, cooking, and serving the daily menu.
• Assist in daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment, washing and sterilizing dishes, silverware, utensils, and cleaning of serving areas.
• Maintain confidentiality within the food service program.
• Demonstrate strong basic math skills.
• Maintain a positive rapport with all staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Dress in appropriate attire as required by the Director.
• Demonstrate organization and professionalism in responsibilities.
• Be flexible and willing to perform any and all Food Service duties as assigned by the Director or Kitchen Manager.
• Substitute at any buildings within the district as needed when short-staffed.
• Attend the required number of hours each year of professional development set by the state.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Must pass a background check.

• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

• The noise level in the work environment can vary based on activities taking place.
• Frequently work in different areas of the cafeteria, including retrieving items near the floor, standing, and moving while supervising lunchroom activities.
• Usually work in indoor temperatures but will work in kitchens, coolers, and gyms where temperatures can fluctuate due to seasonal changes.
