Food Service Associate (FT, Days) - Methodist

About the role

The Food Service Associate reports to the Supervisor of Food Service and works under the guidance and input of the Lead Food Service Associate. The primary responsibility is to ensure patient meal and food service, aiming to enhance patient satisfaction across various age groups.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in alignment with Jefferson’s values.
• Sets up and stocks assigned stations before and after meal service to maintain efficiency.
• Retrieves patient meal trays to ensure timely and safe service.
• Maintains appropriate floor stock and records usage accurately.
• Prepares meals according to recipes, ensuring consistency, safety, and nutritional appropriateness while adhering to budget compliance.
• Follows CDC hand hygiene guidelines and handles food safely and hygienically.
• Prepares and serves beverages and hot/cold prepared foods, storing leftovers appropriately.
• Packages, labels, and dates hot food items according to established guidelines.
• Cross-trains to perform duties in various areas such as tray line, storeroom, and food preparation.
• Cleans and sanitizes equipment in accordance with department standards.
• Completes daily and special cleaning tasks to maintain a sanitary and safe environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• 6+ months’ previous experience in food service preferred but not required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Adherence to all food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills for managing inventory and scheduling.
