Job Summary
The Food Service Assistant is responsible for:
- Making sure food is kept at the right temperature
- Cleaning and sanitizing the serving area
- Preparing and serving food items
- Restocking food areas
- Cleaning and sanitizing equipment
- Collecting payments from customers using a computerized register
- Complying with HACCP guidelines for food service
- Providing excellent customer service
- Establishing good working relationships with patrons and co-workers
- Maintaining high quality control standards
- Operating equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, computerized cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, and freezers
Qualifications
- A minimum of 16 years of age
- Previous customer service experience, retail counting, and money reconciliation preferred
- Knowledge of food service preferred
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions
- Basic math skills
- Experience working in the food industry preferred
- Ability to work independently when necessary
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation processes
- Ability to stand for most of the day and walk long distances
