Food Service Assistant - Part-time Evenings

Facility: GSS MN Inver Grove Ctr – a 46-room facility offering long-term care/skilled nursing care as well as post-acute rehabilitation services in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

About the role

The Food Service Assistant is responsible for monitoring and recording proper temperature of food, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, receiving payment for food and beverages using a computerized register, and other related responsibilities. Complies with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service.

Provides outstanding customer service, communicates effectively with patrons and co-workers, and demonstrates the ability to establish effective working relationships while maintaining quality control standards. May operate equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, and freezers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food items
• Restock food areas
• Clean and sanitize equipment
• Receive payment for food and beverages using a computerized register
• Comply with HACCP guidelines for food service
• Provide outstanding customer service and communicate effectively with patrons and co-workers
• Operate equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, and freezers
• Work independently when necessary

Requirements

• Minimum of 16 years of age
• Previous customer service experience preferred
• Retail counting and reconciliation of money experience preferred
• Knowledge of food service preferred
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions
• Ability to perform basic math
• Ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances
• On-the-job training provided
• Depending upon location, ServSafe certification may be required within a designated time frame
• Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending on location

Schedule

• Part-time, evening shift: 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM
• Scheduled only every other weekend
• Opportunity to pick up additional shifts as available
• Weekly hours: 8.00

Pay

Salary range: $17.81 - $22.27 per hour
