Food Service Assistant - Assisted Living - PRN

About the role

Facility: GSS NE Albion Estates, located at 1225 S 6th St, Albion, NE 68620. This not‑for‑profit organization provides over 100 years of housing and services to seniors in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record proper food temperature
• Set up and maintain a clean, sanitized serving area
• Prepare and serve food items
• Restock food areas
• Clean and sanitize equipment
• Receive payment for food and beverages
• Perform related food service duties
• Assist with housekeeping and laundry of resident rooms and public spaces as needed
• Comply with HACCP guidelines for food service
• Provide outstanding customer service and communicate effectively with patrons and co‑workers
• Establish effective working relationships
• Maintain quality control standards
• Operate equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, computerized cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators and freezers

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years
• Previous customer service experience preferred; retail counting/reconciliation of money and food service knowledge a plus
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions
• Ability to perform basic math
• On‑the‑job training provided
• Depending on location, ServSafe certification may be required within a designated time frame
• Depending on location, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required
• Ability to work independently when necessary
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation processes
• Ability to be on feet for most of the day and walk considerable distances

Pay

Salary range: $15.00 – $22.50 per hour.

Schedule

Shift varies; PRN schedule with weekly hours that vary. Primarily evening hours with occasional daytime availability, possibly including weekends. Hours can be flexible to accommodate students as needed.
