Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
About the role
Senior Scientist – Flavor Analytical. Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant field or 5 years of analytical analysis experience preferred. You will work as part of a project team to set up new SPME GC equipment, establish validated analytical methods on site, and build the capability to perform untargeted flavor analysis on a variety of matrices. Experimental work includes result interpretation, writing recommendations, and disseminating reports. With managerial support, you will develop and execute projects, communicate statuses, and highlight risks. You will plan and lead bench-top experimental work plans and trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice.
This role is focused on delivering key flavor analytical measurements to support the biscuit and baked-snacks business. You will collaborate internally on flavor research and analytical methodology with colleagues at other sites and liaise with external partners and equipment providers.
Responsibilities
- Install new analytical SPME equipment with support from colleagues
- Set up and run in-house methods to conduct flavor analysis on a variety of matrices to assist flavor research programs and provide technical insights
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with instrument providers
- Collaborate in cross-functional teams with internal and external partners to drive projects
- Support flavor research and category teams with analytical measurements to test hypotheses and propose next steps
- Perform a range of investigative analyses using LC, GC, and GCMS techniques, utilizing software packages and interpreting results
- Isolate and concentrate flavor from food products; identify and quantify potent aroma compounds
- Perform QA data checking and provide interpretation of data
- Act in compliance with all relevant lab policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment; assist with laboratory housekeeping and maintenance of quality systems
- Communicate significance of results to technical and non-technical audiences to assist decision-making
- Work in an organized manner within tight deadlines to ensure analysis is completed on schedule
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant field or 5 years of analytical analysis experience
- Experience with LC, GC, and GCMS techniques
- Ability to set up and validate analytical methods
- Proficiency in interpreting analytical results and writing reports
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Comfort liaising with external partners and equipment providers
