Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician

Position Summary
As a member of the Quality Assurance department, this position will be responsible for monitoring all plant operations and programs related to food safety and quality. The FSQA Technician Lead will conduct audits, perform tests, collect and analyze samples to ensure that Cumberland Farms' Culinary Center is continuously compliant with all regulatory, SQF, and Company standards.
Responsibilities
- Attend Weekly General Improvements meetings with teammates from various department
- Create Specification Sheets for new item with their nutritionals
- Conduct a Label Verification approval process before new labels are rolled out
- Perform analytical testing on finished product to ensure products are within specification
- Extract Sure Trend data and collect report for management
- Extract weekly WIP Cooler Temperatures
- Write Corrective Actions reports for non-conformances
- Performs organoleptic and analytical testing on raw materials, packaging and finished products to ensure they meet agreed upon specifications
- Be a resource to production team members on SQF, food safety and quality issues
- Performs in-process testing, such as, ATP, environmental swabbing, and allergen verification
- Identifiy and communicate all food safety and quality issues to members of the management team. Partners with operations to solve those issues when appropriate
- Evaluate and sort data and compile statistical reports to identify trends and deviations in the production process
- Assist in the execution of all SQF related programs and activities
- Partner with operations to identify and solve food safety and quality issues
- Identifiy and secure all non-conforming packaging, raw materials, and finished products
- Maintain and verifiy FSQA records as assigned
- Assist in the investigation of internal and external customer complaints

Requirements
- Minimum Education: Associates degree in Food Science or related discipline.
- Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science or related discipline.
- Minimum Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a food manufacturing facility (college level internships count towards experience)
- Preferred Experience: 2+ years of experience in a food manufacturing facility (college level internships count towards experience)
- Soft Skills: Effective writing, communication skills required. Experience with Microsoft Office required
- Hours & Conditions: 40 hours per week. Shift times and days may vary in accordance with operational demand. Must be able to work in refrigerated and frozen temperatures.
