About the Role
The incumbent in this position is responsible for delivering food and guest supplies to guests in a pleasant, upbeat, and efficient fashion while maintaining high standards of service in a fine-dining environment.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all elements of service, including pre-bussing, clearing and resetting tables, pouring water, and running beverages.
- Describe each dish as it is served, including the name of the dish and 2 notable ingredients, and answer guest questions.
- Ensure sequence of service is followed, including proper plate presentation and course delivery.
- Create an atmosphere that encourages guests to choose Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana for gaming entertainment; build and retain guest relations while mentoring team members.
- Provide superior guest service, handle difficult guests professionally, and work harmoniously with coworkers.
- Maintain a well-groomed, neat, and clean appearance with attention to sanitation and safety.
- Anticipate, identify, and fulfill guest needs.
- Perform inventories and other assigned duties.
- Receive, polish, and stock clean china, silverware, and glassware from dishwashers.
- Quickly deliver food from the kitchen to guests as instructed by management and chefs.
- Maintain table settings by removing completed courses, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and addressing guest needs.
- Assist bussers in setting tables with clean dishes, glasses, and flatware according to fine-dining service procedures.
- Assist with special events or parties, including carving, cooking, setup, teardown, or other duties as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with the culinary team to maximize guest satisfaction.
- Prepare and serve nonalcoholic beverages, including soda, juice, tea, coffee, and espresso beverages.
- Clean and sanitize work and public spaces.
- Attend seminars, trainings, and educational experiences as needed.
- Occasionally research products to educate the service team.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of fine-dining or elevated lounge environment food service experience preferred.
- Must obtain and maintain all licenses/certifications per Federal, State, and Indiana Gaming Commission regulations.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and flexible shifts.
- Must have and maintain a valid food handlers certification for the state of Indiana.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent menu knowledge, including ingredients and preparation methods.
- Strong multitasking and prioritizing skills.
- Knowledge of table service procedures and etiquette for fine-dining environments.
- Excellent customer service and hospitality skills.
- Ability to present an enthusiastic, professional appearance and project a positive demeanor.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules.
- Ability to transport trays/plates weighing up to 50 pounds and serve food/beverages.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and guests at all levels.
- Ability to operate machines and equipment, including beverage dispensers, coffee/espresso machines, bread warmers, dishwashers, and carts.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a high-volume environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Knowledge of Player's Club marketing.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand throughout an eight-hour shift.
- Ability to move throughout the business (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods.
- Ability to make repeating movements of the arms, hands, and wrists.
- Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
- Ability to obtain impressions through the eyes.
- Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to work with hands above shoulders.
- Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds / 25 kilograms.
- Ability to turn or twist body parts in a circular motion.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environments.
