Job Summary

We are seeking a Food Process Engineer at Shambaugh & Son. The ideal candidate will provide quality food process engineering design services to meet or exceed customer satisfaction for schedule and budget.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop flow diagrams and ensure specifications align with customer requirements, Shambaugh & Son standards, and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Perform balance calculations and review them with the customer for production design criteria.
  • Conduct production line time studies, capacity usage studies, and product mass flow calculations.
  • Create utility service needs documentation and distribute it to other project disciplines.
  • Prepare detailed scope of work documents and communicate them to clients, estimating departments, and field installation teams.
  • Develop project installation requirements, including materials of construction, installation methods, and control sequences.
  • Assemble equipment specifications and RFQs as needed to respond quickly and accurately to inquiries.
  • Distribute project documents (approval drawings, equipment specification sheets) to relevant project team members and prepare a written functional description for operator training.
  • Provide on-site engineering support during construction projects, including commissioning and owner operator training.
  • Handle troubleshooting and training for existing construction projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural, Chemical, Mechanical, or Food Process Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in design and project management within the Food and Beverage industry
  • Experience working independently or in a team environment
  • Travel is expected as part of the job, with duration determined by project needs
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • AutoCAD proficiency is a plus
  • Clear communication skills, both written and oral
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including availability for extended hours and weekends as required
