Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives food donations and supports product sorting, stocking pantry shelves and coolers, and proper disposal of waste.
  • Follows First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory rotation principles to ensure food quality and safety.
  • Culls and monitors produce to maintain appropriate product quality standards.
  • Sorts donations and cleans fresh produce.
  • Maintains accurate records related to donations, distributions, discards, client logs, and timesheets.

Client, Volunteer & Community Support

  • Affords assistance to pantry clients and helps guide them through the pantry in a respectful and supportive manner.
  • Coincides and supports pantry volunteers, including task assignment, basic training, and day-to-day guidance.
  • Supports and assists volunteers and staff with assigned tasks, helping ensure a positive volunteer experience.
  • Represents CASFB professionally and courteously with clients, donors, volunteers, partners, and community members.

Safety, Cleanliness & Compliance

  • Works in accordance with all CASFB policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Promotes a safe work environment and follows all safety rules and USDA cleanliness standards.
  • Performs routine housekeeping to ensure work areas are organized, clean, safe, and free of clutter.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Supports food drives and special events as directed, including occasional Saturday shifts.
  • Affords additional assignments as needed to support pantry operations.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to adhering to all CASFB policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds; regularly lifts 40--60 pounds.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to support, guide, and coordinate volunteers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to provide clear direction, basic training, and day-to-day oversight to volunteers.
  • Ability to problem-solve and remain effective in demanding or stressful situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
  • Dependable, motivated, self-directed, organized, and flexible.
  • Willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Reliable personal transportation is required.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
