Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives food donations and supports product sorting, stocking pantry shelves and coolers, and proper disposal of waste.
- Follows First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory rotation principles to ensure food quality and safety.
- Culls and monitors produce to maintain appropriate product quality standards.
- Sorts donations and cleans fresh produce.
- Maintains accurate records related to donations, distributions, discards, client logs, and timesheets.
Client, Volunteer & Community Support
- Affords assistance to pantry clients and helps guide them through the pantry in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Coincides and supports pantry volunteers, including task assignment, basic training, and day-to-day guidance.
- Supports and assists volunteers and staff with assigned tasks, helping ensure a positive volunteer experience.
- Represents CASFB professionally and courteously with clients, donors, volunteers, partners, and community members.
Safety, Cleanliness & Compliance
- Works in accordance with all CASFB policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Promotes a safe work environment and follows all safety rules and USDA cleanliness standards.
- Performs routine housekeeping to ensure work areas are organized, clean, safe, and free of clutter.
Additional Responsibilities
- Supports food drives and special events as directed, including occasional Saturday shifts.
- Affords additional assignments as needed to support pantry operations.
Qualifications
- Commitment to adhering to all CASFB policies and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds; regularly lifts 40--60 pounds.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to support, guide, and coordinate volunteers in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to provide clear direction, basic training, and day-to-day oversight to volunteers.
- Ability to problem-solve and remain effective in demanding or stressful situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.
- Dependable, motivated, self-directed, organized, and flexible.
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed.
- Reliable personal transportation is required.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
