Food Packer

About the role

Full‑Time, onsite position in the Design‑Cuisine segment, located in Arlington, VA/DC area. The food checker checks, packs and organizes food items and kitchen equipment for events for Design Cuisine Kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Set up crescors for events
• Double‑check menus to ensure all food items are loaded for the event
• Pack any necessary kitchen equipment needed for events
• Organize crescors, refrigerators, freezers, and coolers so that items travel well
• Arrange items so that event kitchens are easily set up
• Pack special orders from dispatch or purchasing
• Dispatch events to drivers
• Keep box 8 clean
• Maintain a clean and organized dispatch area
• Pack kitchen “emergency” boxes
• Notify the kitchen of any delays, missing, not ready, or incorrect food items
• Report to the dispatch manager and executive sous chef

Qualifications

• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with others
• Ability to work at a quick pace and under pressure
• Problem‑solving skills for practical issues
• Understanding of safety, sanitation, and food handling
• At least two years of cooking experience
• Working knowledge of basic weights and measurements
• Physical ability to stand/walk for extended periods, lift and carry up to 35 lb, and perform lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and some climbing
• Ability to use hands and fingers effectively
