About the Role

Our food expediter ensures all orders are prepared and served correctly and on time. Applicants will be considered for all Food and Beverage locations based on need, skills, experience, and ability as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient flow of orders from the servers to the kitchen
  • Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority
  • Assist in the final preparation of dishes
  • Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation, and temperature
  • Organize orders to maintain fast service
  • Eliminate obstacles in service, food preparation lines, or dishwashing
  • Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and assist in cleaning
  • Transfer important information between the kitchen and the wait staff (e.g., when a customer has a particular request)
  • Handle complaints from guests to preserve the restaurant's reputation
  • Support other tasks as needed
  • Station set up per station guide, and complete side work
  • Adhere to all restaurant safety and health standards
  • Ensure 8-12-minute ticket times are achieved. Alert management immediately if the threshold exceeds this standard
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Be a consistent role model for the company's Service Excellence standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 2 years of previous work history/education required
  • Experience as a food expediter or other restaurant position required
  • Understanding of health and safety rules in a restaurant
  • Dexterity in using kitchen equipment or utensils and carry heavy trays
  • Intermediate skiing/riding ability required for certain locations
  • Well-organized and ability to lead and direct people
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Outstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilities
  • Must have current Food Handler and Allergy training certificate, or must attend Food Handler and Aller-train certification courses for Alterra Mountain Company within 14 days of employment
  • Must be minimum 16 years of age
  • Must stand for long periods of time
  • Must lift and carry up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language

Qualifications

  • High school diploma; higher degree in hospitality or relevant field will be appreciated

Pay

Steamboat Springs area base hourly pay range: $20.50 - $21.50 per hour.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Must stand for long periods of time
  • Must lift and carry up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis
