Food & Beverage Team Leader
Starting pay range: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour. Full pay range: $22.00 – $37.40 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

About the role
Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. The Food & Beverage team enables a consistent experience for guests by ensuring product is fresh, in stock, available, and accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. This team leads food and food services including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, and pricing processes.
This role provides meaningful experiences to build and develop skills for a career, including:
- Guest service fundamentals and building a guest-first and freshness culture
- Food & Beverage business fundamentals: sales trends, freshness, food safety, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, and pricing strategies

- Leading a team of hourly team members: interviewing, training, coaching, evaluating, retaining, and developing talent
Responsibilities
- Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience
- Train and ensure team members understand and deliver on Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations
- Observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments
- Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, improve execution, and celebrate wins
- Plan and execute daily/weekly workload to meet department and store sales goals, including merchandising, pricing, and promotions
- Lead a guest-focused, efficient Food & Beverage team by completing the Food & Beverage Daily Standards walk
- Assess backroom and sales floor areas daily by walking the Target Food & Beverage Standards; prioritize business needs and workload tasks
- Establish clear goals and expectations, holding team members accountable
- Partner with store leadership through communication and collaboration to influence sales and workload deliverables
- Maintain a fresh, full, and food-safe area during operating hours using strong inventory management and food safety policies
- Assign daily tasks based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns; validate and follow up on progress
- Lead and demonstrate best practices, closing skill gaps through development, coaching, and training
- Lead team huddles to communicate focuses and trends using store reporting and HQ communications
- Develop and maintain vendor partnerships to ensure clear expectations, brand standards, and in-stock reliability
- Place store-initiated orders to ensure product availability
- Stay up-to-date on relevant trends and products to educate team members
- Support hiring and onboarding of new team members
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick-up (OPU), and Drive-up (DU) while maintaining compliance
- Become a subject matter expert in federal, state, and local adult beverage laws (if applicable)
- Maintain Starbucks and Pizza Hut Brand Standards and foster partnerships with district managers (if applicable)
- Complete all required Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut training or certifications (if applicable)
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; hold team accountable
- Model physical security processes to enhance in-store security culture
- Support merchandise protection strategies across the store
- Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and creating equitable experiences
- Follow all safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier
- Assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities during assigned shifts
- Address all store emergency and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous retail and/or food experience preferred but not required
- Strong interest and knowledge of the Food & Beverage business
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable
- Effective communication skills using multiple frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Capability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
- Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately
- Handle cash register operations as needed
- Climb up and down ladders if needed
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting or moving up to 44 pounds without assistance
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays); reliable and prompt attendance necessary
- Ability to work in environments with refrigeration, freezer temperatures, and common allergens
- Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shifts (shift length may vary)
This role is full-time but does not guarantee 40 hours each week; hours depend on business needs and may fluctuate.
