About the role
Management Internship for the Food and Beverage department, offering on-the-job operational training and supervisory exposure in Native American gaming hospitality service. This position is for a maximum of one year and works under the general supervision of the Food & Beverage Assistant Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all Tribal, City, State, and Federal Health/Food Safety codes, including Title 4 (Arizona liquor law) and TOGE internal controls.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work area following all health and food safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the Food & Beverage Assistant Manager or assigned mentor to create long-range training goals and objectives.
- Work across all Food & Beverage venues to gain knowledge and experience in respective departments.
- Perform duties including cash handling, administrative tasks, shadowing personnel, and learning departmental policies and procedures.
- Attend position-specific training and perform multi-tasking duties such as typing, word processing, data entry, and paperwork transactions.
- Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent customer service skills.
- Uphold Desert Diamond Casino’s “On Brand” attitude and Spirit of Service Standards.
- Contribute to team efforts and accomplish related results as required.
- Remain flexible to assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be an enrolled Tohono O’odham tribal member.
- Current tribal team members must have a satisfactory work performance and attendance record.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Culinary, or Hospitality preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- No felony, theft, or stealing convictions.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain/maintain a gaming license.
Skills
- High energy, motivated personality with positive, motivating leadership qualities.
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Proficiency in business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
- Understanding of guest service standards and procedures.
- Ability to obtain a Food Handlers card and TIPS certification.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and train team members on Title 4 regulations and alcohol enforcement.
- Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in English.
- Ability to build professional relationships with individuals of varying backgrounds and co-workers at all levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow verbal or written instructions.
- Skill in operating word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software in a Windows environment.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to walk.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
- Work is generally performed in an office and casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and high noise levels.
- Evening, graveyard, holiday, and/or weekend work may be required.
- Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
- Will work in all Food & Beverage venues unless specified by management.
