Food and Nutrition Aide

Job Summary

Under supervision, washes pots and dishes, manually or by machine, removes trash to the compactor, delivers and cleans items to proper areas for storage, sweeps and mops floors, and performs assigned cleaning. Assembles patient trays, delivers carts, returns carts to the kitchen after meals, and assists with food production.

Population Served

Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient populations: cardiac/cardiovascular, neurologic, and gastrointestinal conditions and diseases, including but not limited to CAD, PVD, COPD, CHF, and metabolic disorders.

Essential Functions

• Wash pots and dishes manually or with a machine.
• Remove trash from kitchen and cafeteria areas to the trash compactor.
• Deliver clean items to proper storage areas.
• Sweep and mop floors with soap and hot water, including under tables and refrigerators/freezers.
• Perform assigned daily cleaning tasks.
• Help assemble and deliver patient trays.
• Deliver large carts and trays to patient units.
• Return large carts and trays to the units.
• Assist with food production.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Food Handler/Safety certification must be obtained within 30 days of the employment start date.
