All About Food & Beverage

The Food & Beverage team ensures product freshness, availability, and accurate pricing. They manage inventory, food safety, and promotional processes across all Food & Beverage areas. At Target, we believe in providing meaningful experiences that help team members build and develop skills for a career.

The Role of a Food & Beverage Expert

  • Provide guests with information around purchasing items and storage tips.
  • Manage department sales trends, inventory, quality, and freshness.
  • Follow food safety standards and routines.
  • Promote products and increase sales using sampling and suggestive selling.
  • Work with vendors to maintain and update salesfloor merchandise displays.
  • Identify and process damaged, recalled, or expired items according to Target's policies.
  • Use knowledge of the total store and specific area to solve guest issues and improve their experience.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
  • Use and care for in-store and personal protective equipment.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU), and Drive-up (DU).
  • Execute all federal, state, and local adult beverage laws as applicable.

  • Flexible work schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times).
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
  • Communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Resolve guest questions quickly.
  • Show attention to detail and follow multi-step processes.
  • Remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
