Food & Beverage Team

The Food & Beverage team ensures a consistent experience for guests by keeping product fresh, in stock, accurately priced, and properly signed on the sales floor. The team leads food services, including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all Food & Beverage areas of the store.

Role Overview

A Food & Beverage Expert gains experience in guest service fundamentals, building a guest‑first and freshness culture, and learning food & beverage business fundamentals such as sales trends, inventory, quality, freshness management, and guest shopping patterns. The role includes understanding food seasonality, safety standards, merchandising, and executing Food & Beverage standards through assignment sheets and task execution.

Responsibilities

• Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by greeting guests within 10 ft, smiling, making eye contact, and offering assistance.
• Help guests find items, resolve issues, and end every transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive, respectful attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring experience.
• Uphold and maintain Food & Beverage standards, including deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, in‑stock routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing, and organizing reserve product.
• Follow all food safety requirements outlined in Target’s policies and procedures.
• Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales.
• Work with vendors to set and maintain sales‑floor merchandise displays and keep the backroom organized.
• Identify damaged, recalled, or expired items and process them according to Target’s policies.
• Execute all applicable federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
• Properly use and care for in‑store and personal protective equipment and follow equipment control guidelines.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance at all times; report and correct hazards.
• Support guest services such as backup cashier, order pick‑up (OPU), and Drive‑up (DU) while maintaining compliance with relevant laws.
• Perform any other duties based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older (Bakery only).
• Previous food or grocery experience preferred but not required.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to operate multiple‑frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology as directed.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving skills; resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
• Maintain focus and composure in a fast‑paced environment, handling multiple tasks within established timeframes.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, lift or move merchandise up to 44 lb without assistance, and remain mobile for the duration of a shift.
• Flexibility to work varying hours, days, or shifts—including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times.
• Ability to work in refrigeration/freezer temperatures and environments where common allergens may be present.
• Willingness to comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $16.00 USD per hour.

Schedule

Flexible work schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times. Employees are expected to work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.
