This position is located at Defense Logistics Agency in Richmond, Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Collects sales slips, totals sales on cash register, accepts payment from patrons, and makes change as necessary.
  • Maintains related cash records.
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly.
  • Sets up food service counters and steam tables with hot and cold foods and beverages.
  • Prepares coffee and hot water for tea, fills beverage dispensers with juices and soft drinks.
  • Sets tables, seats guests, records guests' selections, and turns in orders to the kitchen.
  • Serves food and nonalcoholic beverages.
  • Presents bill and receives payment.
  • Cleans tables and immediate area.
  • Prepares fruits and vegetables for cooking and serving.
  • Makes a variety of fruit and vegetable salads.
  • Portions out food, cleans, and prepares meats and seafood for cooking.
  • Checks food during cooking to prevent overcooking.
  • Unloads trucks and places contents in proper storage and use areas, brings supplies to work areas.
  • Cleans floors, walls, and windows in kitchen, dining, and storage areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2, to include a Physical. Certificate of Medical Examination is required.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.

Qualifications

  • Experience or training that indicates knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English and possess basic math skills.
  • Able to bend, stoop, walk, and reach frequently.
  • Be able to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds.

Education

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

Pay

This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week — whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.

Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

Area of consideration: This job is open to candidates who are within the local commuting area (within a 50-mile commuting radius of DLA Richmond, Virginia). Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.
