RemoteRemoteLegal$134k–$202k/yrFull-time

Remote/Hybrid role supporting Relativity’s FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) Data Migration initiative. This position enables federal, state, and local government customers to onboard, migrate, and manage FOIA data within RelativityOne. The role operates in a dual capacity: defining and prioritizing Data Migration tooling requirements with engineering, while directly engaging with FOIA agency customers to execute migration projects. Due to government data handling requirements, U.S. citizenship and Public Trust clearance are mandatory.

About the Role

The FOIA Data Migration & Compliance Lead serves as both a hands-on practitioner and technical lead, ensuring accurate, secure, and efficient migration of FOIA data into RelativityOne. This role requires familiarity with FedRAMP significant-change processes, FIPS 140-3, and NIST frameworks, as all handled data is classified DT1 (the highest sensitivity tier under Relativity’s FedRAMP authorization).

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end data migration projects for FOIA customers and government agencies, including data mapping, validation, transformation logic, and cutover strategies.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for FOIA agency customers throughout the migration lifecycle, from planning to post-migration validation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve migration issues, data anomalies, and integration challenges in collaboration with engineering.
  • Act as the technical subject matter expert and product backlog driver for the Data Migration Utility, balancing immediate customer needs with long-term scalability.
  • Write user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications; test and validate new utility features, providing structured feedback.
  • Document tool capabilities, configurations, migration best practices, and knowledge base content.
  • Apply deep knowledge of FOIA regulations, agency workflows, and public records requirements to deliver tailored migration guidance.
  • Partner with TAM and Customer Success teams to establish repeatable migration playbooks and success criteria.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on government data handling, including sensitivity classifications, records retention, and compliance considerations.
  • Represent the voice of government agency customers internally, translating operational realities into actionable product feedback.
  • Identify and report product defects, tool gaps, and process inefficiencies; refine migration methodologies for improved accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work within pre-approved toolsets and Azure-native capabilities to ensure compliance with FedRAMP and government data security requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management, or related field—or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience working directly with government agencies or regulated-industry customers in a technical or consulting capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in data migration, integration, or engineering, including designing and executing migrations of structured/semi-structured data.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and experience querying and transforming data.
  • Hands-on experience with data formats, transformation tools, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, JSON, XML, CSV).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for government stakeholders.
  • Experience in a product owner or technical lead capacity—capturing requirements, documenting specifications, and driving iterative delivery.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance as a condition of employment (preference for candidates with active clearance).
  • U.S. citizenship required due to customer contract requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with federal, state, or local government agencies—particularly in FOIA administration, records management, or public records compliance.
  • Working knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. 552), including exemptions, request workflows, and high-volume request management.
  • Familiarity with government data security frameworks (NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, CJIS Security Policy).
  • Experience handling government-designated sensitive data (CUI, PII, Law Enforcement Sensitive, or similar).
  • Experience navigating government procurement, contracting, or Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.
  • Experience building or supporting data migration solutions on SaaS/cloud platforms, with exposure to REST APIs and cloud storage services.
  • Familiarity with FOIA-specific platforms (e.g., FOIAXpress, GovQA, Paladin) and agency FOIA system data structures.
  • Familiarity with Relativity or RelativityOne, or Relativity certifications (RCA, Specialist, Expert).

Pay

The expected salary range for this role is $134,000 to $202,000. The final offered salary will be based on experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range is not typical, to allow for future growth. This position is eligible for total compensation, including a competitive base salary, annual performance bonus, and long-term incentives.
