We are hiring for a fly fishing educator to teach fly fishing classes near the Denver Foothills and train directly under Erin in 2026, attend training in Idaho Springs at the Women's Hunting Skills Camp, and launch in 2027. Fly Fishing Guide Primary Location: Deckers, CO (South Platte River) & Staunton State Park Season: April–September Time Commitment: Variable; Fly Fishing 101 & 201 classes, primarily weekends About The Role Deckers is one of the most iconic fly fishing locations in Colorado—and one of the most intimidating for new anglers. Our goal here is not to guide tourists chasing trophy trout. Our goal is to teach women how to fish confidently, ethically, and independently on pressured water. This role is ideal for a guide who loves teaching, understands how to progress students from beginner to intermediate skills, and wants to be part of a supportive, women-led teaching team. If you enjoy helping anglers move from “I’m nervous” to “I can do this on my own,” this role is for you. Position Summary The Fly Fishing Guide is responsible for teaching Fly Fishing 101 and 201 classes, supporting camps and retreats, and helping maintain a consistent, professional educational experience on a river. This role emphasizes education, safety, and confidence-building over traditional guiding metrics. You will teach structured classes, manage small groups, and contribute to a welcoming learning environment for returning students. Core Responsibilities Fly Fishing 101 & 201 InstructionTeach Fly Fishing 101 (beginner) and Fly Fishing 201 (intermediate) classes in Deckers, COFly Fishing 201 focuses on:Reading technical waterLine control and mendingFly selection and rig adjustmentsFishing pressured trout confidentlyClasses are typically held on weekendsClass size and curriculum are standardized Event Support & SchedulingTeach classes scheduled through Uncharted OutdoorswomenSupport lead guides as neededAssist with fly fishing camps and retreatsCommunicate clearly with students before and after class Community & Education FocusFoster a welcoming, low-pressure learning environmentSupport returning students as they progress through skill levelsUphold Uncharted’s values of inclusion, safety, and conservation Gear & LogisticsBorrow company rods and gear (from Black Hawk, CO) orUse personal gear and receive gear “rent” compensationMaintain professional appearance and organized gear Content & CommunicationTake 2 photos per class (1 group photo, 1 educational or inspiring moment)Upload photos to the shared Google folderWrite occasional educational blogs related to fly fishing or river skillsCommunicate consistently in the Team Slack channel Compensation & Earning Structure This role offers two compensation tiers based on responsibility. Guides may work in one or both tiers. Tier 1: Teaching & Support Guide $15/hour for teaching Fly Fishing 101 or 201 classesAdditional commissions based on the number of participants enrolledUncharted Outdoorswomen:Schedules and fills the eventHandles marketing and follow-up emailsIdeal for guides who want to teach without managing logistics Tier 2: Lead Guide / Event Builder Up to 30% commission on gross revenue for events you:Create and scheduleMarket and fillCoordinate logistics forIncludes direct communication with clients, guides, and partnersHigher earning potential tied to community-building and outreach Required Qualifications CPR & First Aid certifiedGPS device (Garmin InReach, Zoleo, etc.)Comfortable teaching on technical, pressured waterTechnologically savvy (website dashboards, schedules, Slack) Ideal Candidate You Live near Deckers, Denver, or Pine, COAre confident teaching both beginners and intermediate anglersCommunicate clearly and professionallyAre patient, inclusive, and trauma-informed in your teachingDo not work for another fly fishing outfitterCan manage group dynamics on busy public water Not Required Guide school (not required in Colorado)Traditional private guiding How Will You Grow?
