About the role

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. The first MK1 Lunar Lander, christened “Endurance,” will be the largest and most complex vehicle ever to land on the moon. Our second MK1 will deliver NASA’s VIPER rover to the lunar south pole. As part of the MK1 Fluids Systems Engineering team, you will apply your systems engineering, fluids, and propulsion expertise, using natural leadership and organizational skills to positively impact Blue Origin’s bold missions.

Responsibilities

  • Work at significant technical depth on complex subsystems with some oversight as part of the Fluids and Propulsion Integrated Product Team (IPT)
  • Own subsystem level documentation and analyses, incorporating verification data as it becomes available
  • Ensure timely updates and communication of subsystem level architecture diagrams and schematics
  • Understand and apply systems engineering fundamentals across the development cycle, including concept development, requirements, design, analysis, validation, integration, safety, configuration management, verification, and test
  • Integrate between fluids and propulsion subsystems and overall system-level vehicle design, analysis, software, and operations
  • Support the development and execution of component and subsystem tests
  • Tackle a range of Fluids Systems Engineer tasks, such as leading trade studies, component design/integration, first-order analysis, and test support

Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • 3+ years of proven experience in fluids, propulsion, or aerospace systems
  • Experience with fluid/gas components (e.g., solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pumps, pressure vessels, and instrumentation)
  • Experience with systems engineering principles
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communications skills
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Engineering degree
  • Experience driving the verification and validation of component and/or subsystem-level requirements
  • Experience supporting projects through the full development cycle
  • Experience supporting trade studies to drive design improvements into the fluids and propulsion architecture
  • Exposure to fluid components and instrumentation through Acceptance and Qualification test campaigns
  • Spacecraft, space vehicle, or launch vehicle fluid systems experience
  • Experience with Hydrogen and Oxygen systems
  • Experience utilizing Jira and Windchill

Pay

  • CA applicants: $99,201.00 - $138,880.35
  • CO applicants: $90,934.00 - $127,307.25
  • WA applicants: $99,201.00 - $138,880.35
  • Other site ranges may differ
