About the role
This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time on console support for integrated tests, launch and recovery operations providing essential troubleshooting support.
- Serve as a primary technical POC for all design, test, software, operations, and refurbishment artifacts for your subsystem.
- Create and maintain Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documentation and detailed vehicle operational timelines.
- Define product testing requirements, operations lifecycle, maintenance requirements, and critical performance/requirements interfaces across the system.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, software, test, and operations teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Support failure analysis and corrective action implementation.
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field) or another technical field.
- 4+ years of proven experience with mechanical or pressurized systems.
- Experience with system engineering principles and processes.
- Experience in at least one of the areas of analysis, design, or integrated testing of mechanical or fluid power systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of mechanical or fluid system principles, components, and operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of launch vehicle system design, requirement definition, architecture development, verification/validation, integration and modification.
- Experience with pressurized systems using one or more of the following commodities: hydraulic fluid, pneumatics, cryogenics, peroxide, and gaseous fuel and oxygen.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic system testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Experience with launch vehicles and mechanical aerospace systems (TVC, Hydraulic or Electro-Mechanical Actuators and Mechanisms, APU, landing systems).
- Involvement in console operations for launch vehicles.
- Experience in system development and integration, preferably with aerospace flight hardware.
