About the role

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

We are looking for a Lead Fluids Analyst to support development of the Thermodynamic Vent System (TVS) on the MK2 Crewed Lander in support of NASA's Artemis & HLS programs. The TVS is responsible for thermal management of the Main Propulsion System (MPS) cryogenic propellants (LH2 & LOX). The selected candidate will follow TVS through the complete development lifecycle from preliminary design through build, test, integration and on-console operation.

You will work with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) program. You will play a key role in developing the MK2 Crewed Lunar Lander that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and run thermo-fluids models of cryogenic propellant
  • Work with a cross-functional team to advance the state of the art of in-space cryogenic fluid management in propulsion systems

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of thermal/fluids analysis experience
  • Proficiency using common CFD tools such as Thermal Desktop or Sinda/Fluint
  • Understanding of Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Thermodynamics
  • Hands-on experience with first-order and Excel-level fluids calculations

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Thermal Desktop
  • Experience with LH2 and/or LOX
  • Experience supporting propulsion system ground testing
  • Experience with zero boiloff solutions
  • CFD expertise (ANSYS Fluent, FLOW3D)
  • Experience with cryogenic, multi-phase, or gaseous fluid systems
  • Spacecraft, space vehicle or launch vehicle fluid systems experience

Pay

Base Pay Range:

  • For CA applicants: $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
  • For CO applicants: $110,938.00 - $155,312.85
  • For WA applicants: $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
  • Other site ranges may differ
