JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, delivers intelligent automated manufacturing and distribution technology solutions globally. We are seeking a Fluid Power Technician in Holland, MI to join our team and contribute to innovative automation projects.

About the role

The Fluid Power Technician assembles custom equipment according to approved designs and customer specifications, ensuring quality, safety, and project objectives are met. This position involves troubleshooting and installing pneumatic and hydraulic systems, interpreting blueprints and schematics, and maintaining clear communication with project teams. Travel up to 20%, including domestic and international assignments, may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble equipment according to approved design and customer specifications.
  • Document and communicate changes and problems.
  • Carry out assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision.
  • Assist with the execution of ISO/Quality Standards.
  • Communicate with the project team on open issues and progress during the building process.
  • Assist with the successful execution of assigned programs as they relate to cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area.
  • Effectively and safely:
    • Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.
    • Install piping and hoses.
    • Read blueprints, identify fittings, and interpret basic symbols.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years’ fluid power experience.
  • Related vocational education preferred.
  • Journeyman’s card preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of:
    • Schematic interpretation.
    • Pipe threading.
    • Fitting identification.
    • Symbols.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Ability to accept direction and complete tasks individually or as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a steady pace while bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working on or beneath machines.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to obtain Hi-Lo (Forklift), Aerial Platform, Overhead Crane licenses, and Lock Out Tag Out training while employed.
  • Ability to provide own hand tools and toolbox (a recommended list will be provided).
  • Willingness to travel at least 20% of the time, including domestic and international travel.
