Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation - Patient Support Volunteer (Villages)

Overview

The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. It assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Donations received cover all overhead expenses, allowing 100% of funds to go directly towards paying essential non-medical living expenses for adult cancer patients.

Patient Support Volunteer

• Brighten up a cancer patient’s day by providing non-medical support during their treatment.
• Offer snacks or beverages, distribute warm blankets, share reading materials, talk and listen, and help with re-stocking.
• Volunteers must be available for a minimum of 3 hours per week for at least six months.

Requirements

• Complete a phone interview.
• Pass a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening.
• Be tobacco and medical marijuana free.
• Complete a health screening including TB testing, immunizations, and an annual influenza vaccine.

Benefits

Volunteers receive no compensation but have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of cancer patients. They also gain valuable experience and networking opportunities within the healthcare field.
