Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation - Patient Support Volunteer (Trinity/New Port Richey)
Overview
The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The Foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Donations received cover all overhead expenses, allowing 100% of donations to go directly towards paying essential non-medical living expenses for adult cancer patients.
Patient Support Volunteer
Become a Patient Support Volunteer for the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation. Volunteers provide non-medical support to cancer patients during their treatment. Duties include offering snacks or beverages, distributing warm blankets, sharing reading materials, talking and listening, wiping down infusion chairs, and helping with re-stocking. Ideal candidates include retirees, cancer survivors, caregivers, or students with an interest in oncology, nursing, or medicine. A minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week for at least six months is required.
Requirements
- Complete a phone interview.
- Pass a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening.
- Complete a health screening including TB testing, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemptions.
- Annual influenza vaccine is required (August 1 through March 31).
