Overview

The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. It assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Donations cover all overhead expenses, ensuring 100% of funds go directly to supporting non-medical living expenses for adult cancer patients.

Responsibilities

• Brighten up a cancer patient's day by offering snacks or beverages, distributing warm blankets, sharing reading materials, talking and listening, wiping down infusion chairs, and assisting nurses with re-stocking.
• Volunteers must commit a minimum of 3 hours per week for at least six months.

Requirements

• Complete a phone interview.
• Pass a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening.
• Be a retiree, cancer survivor, caregiver of someone with cancer, or have an interest in oncology, nursing, or medicine.
• Complete a health screening including TB testing, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemptions.
• Get an annual influenza vaccine (August 1 through March 31).
