Flooring Measure Tech

About the role

RPM Carpets, Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Flooring Measure Technician to support our full-time technicians. This role is ideal for those looking to transition into a flexible, low-impact position where their expertise is valued.

Responsibilities

• Visit residential and commercial properties to record precise dimensions of areas receiving new flooring.
• Utilize modern digital measuring tools and software (RFMS) to create accurate floor plans and renderings (training provided).
• Evaluate subfloor conditions (leveling, moisture, damage) and identify potential obstacles like door clearances, appliances, or complex transitions.
• Briefly discuss material suitability with clients based on their space's traffic and climate (e.g., suggesting LVP over hardwood for high-moisture basements).
• Prepare clear notes for the sales and installation teams regarding material quantities, waste factors, and specific labor requirements.
• Provide a warm, punctual, and professional experience that reinforces our company’s high standard of quality and commitment.

Qualifications & Skills

• Industry Experience: A minimum of 2-4 years in flooring, construction, remodeling, or a related trade. Decades of experience are also welcome.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to spot small details like 1/8-inch dips in subfloors.
• Knowledge of Trades: Solid understanding of different flooring types and their specific installation requirements.
• Mathematical Aptitude: Comfort with basic geometry to calculate area, perimeter, and waste percentages.
• Communication Ability: Translate technical site issues into clear notes for the office and easy-to-understand explanations for the homeowner.
• Tech Comfort: Comfort using or learning basic tablet/computer software for inputting measurements.
• Licenses: Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for local travel between sites.

Position Benefits & Details

• Hours: Flexible, part-time schedule 20-25 hours/week (perfect for maintaining a work-life balance or enjoying retirement).
• Pay Range: \$20-\$22/hour to start, commensurate with experience.
