About the role

A critical role providing support for regular, terminal, and isolation cleaning. Duties include daily maintenance and major restoration of hard and carpeted surfaces, project cleaning, and adherence to Wellstar Health System policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes floors and applies correct maintenance procedures.
  • Performs cleaning using the step process in all assigned areas.
  • Assists in cleanup of emergency spills as requested or observed.
  • Carries out floor care duties including stripping and refinishing hard surface floors, deep cleaning carpets, and maintenance processes related to floor care.
  • Removes and transports waste (solid, chemotherapy, bio-hazard, pharmaceutical, hot) and other regulated materials.
  • Uses Ultra Violet Light devices correctly.
  • Changes out, removes, and replaces containers (Sharps, Pharmacy Waste, Bio-Hazard, Chemo Therapy).
  • Interacts with staff, guests, patients, and their families with good customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Performs restroom and patient room cleaning according to protocols.
  • Follows infection prevention protocols and uses proper chemicals.
  • Uses correct PPE and lifting techniques.
  • Maintains equipment and stocks supplies.
  • Participates in performance improvement projects.
  • Completes initial and refresher training for handling hazardous waste.

Requirements

Some experience preferred. Requires fluency in English, high school diploma or equivalent, and successful completion of Departmental Training Program within 30 days of employment.
