About the role
The Floor Technician is responsible for safely performing assigned floor care functions based on standards and procedures, environmental services as needed, and floor care such as waxing, stripping, buffing, and other contractual duties according to regulations.
Responsibilities
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Stop at-risk behaviors in others and self
- Work with other employees in a team to complete assignments
- Perform repetitive tasks and maintain a clean work area
- Follow all company procedures, policies, and rules
- Take direction and respond to supervision
- Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers
- Fill in during staff shortages (custodial, recycle, or maintenance)
- Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
- Use proper personal protective equipment required for assigned tasks
- Present a professional appearance and conduct
- Understand customer service and satisfaction, reporting systems, and environmental impact
- Operate motorized cleaning equipment
- Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of all floors: tile, carpet, and brick flooring
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner
- Utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure
- Use and maintain equipment properly, safely, and correctly
- Observe safety precautions, including using “wet floor” safety signs
- Ability to work without normal supervision
- Report safety hazards as appropriate
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, and willingness to share with the team
- Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
Qualifications
- No formal education requirement
- 6 months to 1 year of experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- May be required to have a valid driver’s license
- Complete all safety and task training certification
- May be required to be forklift certified
Physical Demands
The employee is frequently required to sit and talk or listen. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM
Pay
$22.80 - $23.80 per hour
