About the role
Country Villa Wellness & Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable Floor Technician / Floor Tech to join our housekeeping and environmental services team. This position is responsible for floor care, commercial cleaning, environmental services, housekeeping, and general facility maintenance to maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for our residents, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities
Floor Care & Floor Technician Duties
- Perform daily floor care and maintenance throughout the facility.
- Sweep, dust mop, damp mop, wet mop, disinfect, and clean floors.
- Operate commercial floor care equipment, including floor buffers and other cleaning machines.
- Perform floor stripping, waxing, sealing, polishing, and buffing according to facility procedures.
- Clean and maintain tile and other hard-surface flooring using appropriate equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Clean carpets using appropriate commercial carpet-cleaning equipment and products.
- Place appropriate wet floor and caution signs before beginning floor-cleaning activities.
- Maintain floor-care equipment, tools, carts, and supplies in clean and working condition.
- Use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies properly and safely.
Environmental Services & Housekeeping
- Perform environmental services (EVS), housekeeping, and commercial cleaning duties throughout the healthcare facility.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain resident rooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, lounges, activity rooms, therapy areas, entrances, exits, and other assigned areas.
- Clean and disinfect floors, walls, doors, ceilings, fixtures, sinks, mirrors, windows, furniture, and other surfaces.
- Dust and clean horizontal surfaces, ledges, shelves, vents, window sills, and other areas.
- Replenish soap, paper towels, and other housekeeping supplies.
- Respond promptly to emergency housekeeping and environmental services requests.
- Clean areas as needed to ensure resident rooms are ready for admissions and new residents.
- Follow established housekeeping and infection prevention procedures to maintain a sanitary healthcare environment.
General Maintenance & Facility Support
- Complete basic facility maintenance tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Replace light bulbs and perform other routine maintenance tasks within the scope of the position.
- Clean lint from dryers, vents, registers, and other designated areas.
- Keep entrances, patios, grounds, and exterior areas clean and free of debris.
- Clean garbage cans and designated outdoor areas.
- Wash exterior windows and screens as assigned.
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining wheelchairs, shower chairs, Geri chairs, carts, and other facility equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas and properly store equipment, tools, and supplies at the end of each shift.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when additional inventory is needed.
- Support the housekeeping and laundry departments as needed to meet facility needs.
Teamwork & Resident Care
- Work professionally with residents, nurses, physicians, department leaders, visitors, and other staff members.
- Respond to environmental services requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Follow all facility policies and procedures related to infection control, safety, sanitation, and environmental services.
- Communicate with management regarding maintenance concerns, supply needs, and opportunities to improve cleanliness and safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator or supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in floor care, floor maintenance, housekeeping, environmental services, commercial cleaning, custodial services, or healthcare housekeeping preferred.
- Experience operating commercial floor-care equipment is a plus.
- Experience with floor stripping, waxing, buffing, polishing, and carpet cleaning preferred.
- Ability to follow cleaning schedules, safety procedures, and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to safely use commercial cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Previous healthcare, hospital, nursing home, skilled nursing, assisted living, or long-term care experience is a plus.
