About the role
The Senior Flood Recovery & Water Resources Specialist will lead highly technical flood recovery, flood mitigation, and water resource programming across a three-county region. This senior-level position plays a regional leadership role in flood recovery planning, watershed management, hazard mitigation, and grant-funded infrastructure and resilience programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and coordinate complex flood recovery and risk-reduction efforts in collaboration with counties, municipalities, state and federal agencies, and partner organizations.
- Lead regional flood recovery planning, watershed management, hazard mitigation, and grant-funded infrastructure and resilience programs.
- Work closely with partners to ensure effective implementation of flood recovery and risk-reduction strategies.
- Contribute to the development of comprehensive flood mitigation plans and strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to secure funding for flood recovery and resilience projects.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to local governments and community organizations on flood recovery and water resource management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, geography, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in flood recovery, water resources management, or related fields.
- Experience working with federal, state, and local government agencies, and non-profit organizations.
- Strong knowledge of flood recovery, hazard mitigation, and water resource management principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GIS software.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, geography, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with grant writing and securing funding for flood recovery and resilience projects.
- Experience with project management and coordination of multi-agency and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to flood recovery and water resource management.
