About the role

The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking a School Age Program Site Director to lead and support children in care settings. The ideal candidate should have energy, strong leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both staff and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Engage campers and motivate staff for an amazing day camp experience.
  • Ensure high quality programs and plan new activities.
  • Train and schedule staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Ensure YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Develop and implement programming for their assigned site.
  • Independently supervise all staff, provide appropriate direction, and participate in all programming activities.
  • Adhere to program standards including CDHS licensing, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, association, and site-specific events as appropriate.
  • Follow and ensure implementation of all YMCA emergency procedures, site-specific guidelines, recommended practices, pertinent standards, and policies, and State regulations.
  • Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants, and community members.
  • Maintain confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents, and records.
  • Be on time for all shifts; flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days.
  • Practice positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques to participants with natural consequences in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Maintain regular and timely communication with supervisor concerning program and participant needs.
  • Maintain required records, staff files, child files, attendance records, and other necessary information.
  • Maintain site budget and purchase needed supplies and materials.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Previous experience working with children in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable.
  • Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (we can provide).
  • Have at least one of the following:
    • A four-year degree in a related field.
    • An associate’s degree or sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited college or university and three (3) months (455 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual.
    • Three (3) months (455 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual.
    • A current early childhood professional credential level 2 or higher.
    • Documented experience includes experience working directly with school-age children in such areas as Sunday school, Scouts, sports, or babysitting.

Qualifications

  • Physical Demands: Medium work (Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects).
  • Physical Activities: Stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing, visual acuity, and working conditions.

Pay

$19.00 - $22.00 per hour.

Schedule

Part time up to 28 hours per week (more available during school breaks).
